Businesses thrive when they have an active social media presence, but it can be tough to come up with new ideas for posts. You don’t want to seem repetitive, but you also don’t want to stray too far from what your business represents.

When in doubt, circle back to the three Ps of social media content: Product, Purpose, and People.

Product represents content that promotes your physical product or service.

EXAMPLES INCLUDE:

  • Product Releases - what's new and what's to come.

  • Product Pushes - different types of products, services, or solutions your brand has to offer.

  • Video Content / How To - show how your product or service works to your audience before they buy to build trust.

  • Giveaways - free products, free services, gift certificates, or collaborations with other brands.

Purpose represents content that speaks to your mission statement, community involvement, or volunteer work.

EXAMPLES INCLUDE:

  • Mission Statement - what your brand stands for and what you wish your public image to be.

  • Community Involvement - how you interact with other local businesses and brands.

  • Volunteer Work - how your brand gives back to the community (either on a regular basis or in crisis, like a global pandemic).

  • Business Changes - moving offices/locations, adding employees to your team, etc.

  • Now Hiring - career listings and posts.

People represents content that focuses on your audience, customers, and industry partners.

EXAMPLES INCLUDE:

  • Customer Reviews & Testimonials - customer quotes, selfies, suggestions, reviews, ratings, etc.

  • Case Studies - for businesses with products that will benefit another business, usually for B2B brands.

  • Ratings from people or organizations - a Yelp review or a magazine/newspaper feature.
